July 4, 2007....
My show career as a kitten is half over-I am 6 months old now, and have
four more shows to go before I go in with the big boys! Right now I am
the number one Maine Coon kitten in the CFA southern region!
My mom is really proud of me, but as far as I'm concerned, it's all fun and
games. The baths before the shows leave a bit to be desired though-do
you have any idea how humiliating it is to be soaking wet and looking like a
drowned rat right there for everyone to see?
My next show is in New Castle Delaware on July 7th-watch this spot next
week to see how I did!

July 8, 2007....
Well, true to form, I drooled and tossed my cookies in the car on the way
to the show. I almost needed another bath when we arrived! But Mom got
me cleaned up in time for the start of the show, so it was ok after all.
Since I am "Captain Salty Claws", I am the Pirate of the show halls, and
Mommy made me a neat pirate's lair to hang out in at the shows. I've
even got a pirate's parrot!
'
'The show went pretty well, I managed to get two Best of Breed ribbons,
a Second Best of Breed and made finals in two rings-9th best kitten in
show in one and 9th best longhair kitten in the other. Some of the judges
let me play and I just love that!
My next show is a big one in Somerset, NJ the weekend of July 22-23 at
the Garden State Expo Hall.

July 23, 2007...
Well, another show and more time to hang out looking adorable. I am
really getting good at this. I figured out, all I have to do is lay there in
my show tent and people just come by and go goo-goo all over me!
Mommy is very proud of me because I made finals in four rings this
weekend! I was 6th best kitten in two rings and 12th and 13th best in
two others...there were 102 kittens entered, and 17 were Maine Coon
kittens, so that was pretty neat!
Some of the judges let me play on the climbing pole when they were
judging me. I think they like it when I do that-I can stretch myself out
to almost reach the lights at the top of the poles! Mommy says it doesn't
matter to the judges, but I know the spectators love it and I am a real
ham anyway!
Well, it's off to Winchester, VA this coming weekend for another show!
Stay tuned for more news next week!

I really don't mind getting baths, because look how beautiful I am when all
finished! And, I know after I have a bath, I get to go to a show and spend
most of the weekends laying around looking cute.
Yes, my ears are for real, and no, they are not going to be braided!

August 19, 2007...
Wow-I am a MAN now! I just finished my kitten show career two weekends ago, and this weekend I got my "winners
ribbons" and now have the title of "Premier". Winners ribbons are required before a cat can be shown in the adult classes in
CFA-6 different judges have to issue these ribbons to confirm that a cat sufficiently meets the standard for his breed. So
now I have a few weeks off-NO BATHS! Then I will go to a huge show in Chantilly Virginia the weekend after Labor Day to
try to get my "grand" points. I will need 75 points to get the title of "Grand Premier".
I just turned 8 months old on the 15th of August, and now weigh a little over 12 pounds. I have this one whisker that my
mom says would bring a fortune on eBay-it is so long, it has to be a record-setter! (I am keeping it under lock and key...
sleeping with one eye open, lest she gets any ideas of really trying to sell it!).

November 15, 2007...Well, I got 74 points in two shows, September in
Timonium, MD and Ocotber in York, PA....but I am still ONE point short of
getting my title of "Grand" so I will be going for that last point on
December 1 at the Santa Paws show. Mommy decided to show Abbe
there also, so we will both be going to the same rings together for the
first time! But Abbe is already a "Grand" so she is ahead of me a little,
she will compete against other "grands and I will be competing against
the ones who are not "grands" yet.
I still DROOL really badly when I am in my carrier! I now weigh 13-1/2
pounds, and Abbe is a little over 14 pounds. I think I am going to get
really big, but it will take awhile for me to get full grown.
Over there to the right is a picture of Abbe and me, sitting there by our
window, watching the squirrels out in the dogwood tree. We like to
watch together. Mommy thinks we are adorable!
